A month ago, multiple users reported a new “Priority notification” feature added to One UI 8.5. As the name suggests, it prioritizes notifications based on their importance or urgency. Users also noticed that these priority notifications had a special glow effect when they appeared on the lock screen and notification panel.

Following the ongoing development, a fresh leak from popular tipster Tarun Vats shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) showing that the same gradient glow effect for priority notifications is now being applied to Brief notification pop-ups in the latest One UI 8.5 build. This makes the overall design feel more consistent across the UI. It’s a subtle change, but it definitely looks much prettier.

Interestingly, one user mentioned the latest build has a bug that makes every brief pop-up style notification show the glow effect, treating all of them as priority alerts. We can’t independently verify this claim, but since One UI 8.5 is still in development, minor bugs like this are expected.
Nonetheless, the One UI 8.5 beta program is rumored to begin on December 8, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. Once released, the general public will finally get their hands on the latest One UI version before the official rollout, expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 family next year.
