Google’s latest Circle to Search update completely changes how on-screen translation works on Android. The new Scroll and Translate feature lets users keep scrolling while everything translates seamlessly in the background.
Previously, when users wanted to translate text on their screen using Circle to Search, the tool only worked on one screen at a time. This made the experience feel slow and repetitive, especially when scrolling through content from creators who speak a different language.
With the new Scroll and Translate feature, users can now continuously translate everything on their screen without having to re-trigger the tool. It works seamlessly as you scroll through webpages, social media posts, or even switch between apps. During our testing, the execution felt so polished that we genuinely had nothing to complain about.
The translation mini bar is also thoughtfully designed. Tapping the “Translating to English” bar minimizes it to the side of the screen, keeping the content unobstructed and easy to read. When you are done, you can bring it back using the side handle and close the translation with a single tap.

As shown in the screenshots, Circle to Search was able to automatically translate Japanese and Korean text into English on our Galaxy phone with impressive accuracy.
If you want to try the feature yourself, simply long-press the home button or navigation bar to launch Circle to Search, tap the Translate icon, and select Scroll and Translate (hand-shaped icon).
The update is rolling out gradually, starting with select Samsung Galaxy devices. Wider availability is expected for other supported Android devices and regions soon. We received the feature on our Galaxy S23 after updating the Google app beta from the Play Store.
