WhatsApp is not just about texting anymore, the more and more features are being introduced every year. And one of the features is WhatsApp Status which is similar to the Stories feature of other social apps such as Facebook and Instagram.
However, adding photos and videos to your story was first seen on Snapchat but later on, became the common feature on other social media platforms too.
Ever since WhatsApp has introduced the Status feature more and more people are using it. In fact, according to the Statista report, WhatsApp had 500 million active WhatsApp Status users in the 1st Quater of 2019.
But what if you saw any funny video or any memes you want to reshare? Since WhatsApp doesn’t allow users to download WhatsApp Status Videos and Photos directly. Well, there are many methods you can download and I will explain each method one by one.

How to Download WhatsApp Status Videos and Images on Android?
Method 1: Using File Manager
- Download Google Files App from Play Store and open it.
- Tap on the Menu icon (or Navigation menu) at the top left corner. Next, go to Settings and enable ‘Show hidden files’.
- Now go to Browse Tab > Internal Storage > WhatsApp > Media > .Statuses.
Do note that WhatsApp Status you have seen, that will only be shown in Statuses Folder. Furthermore Status on WhatsApp has a 24-hour time limit, so Statuses Folder is updated in realtime and the data is cleared as soon as its associated media expires. Therefore Copy the video or images to your desired folder before it expires.
You can use any other File manager also, just make sure you can access hidden files.

Method 2: Using a Third-Party App
Compare to the File Manager Method this one is easier to download Videos and Images from WhatsApp Status. There are many apps in the Play Store that can download WhatsApp Status, but I recommend you to download the Status Saver by InShot Inc.
In this App, all the Status you have seen on WhatsApp will be available for download. Moreover, the App can also download statuses from WhatsApp Business.
Method 3: Take a Screenshot or Screen Recording
The last method to Download/Save WhatsApp Status Images on Android is to take a Screenshot. As of now, WhatsApp doesn’t notify users if someones take a screenshot so it should be fine. Generally, to take a screenshot on android, you have to Hold Power Button + Volume down Button.
If the WhatsApp Status is video, then simply start a built-in screen recorder from the phone. In case your phone doesn’t have a built-in screen recorder then download AZ Screen Recorder which is free and doesn’t come with a watermark.
How to Download WhatsApp Status Videos and Images on iOS?
Well, the iOS users are not as lucky as Android users. As there are no options to save from file manager or any App that can download WhatsApp Statuses. So the only option left is Screenshot and Screen Recording.
To take the Screenshot on iPhone X or later, you will have to press and hold the Power Button and then click the Volume Up Button. The rest of the users will have to press and hold the Top/Side Buttons and then immediately click the Home Key.
To record the screen, first go to Setting > Control Centre > Customise Controls and add Screen Recording. Now you can turn on Screen Recording from Control Centre.
